The Off-Campus Housing Service provides lists of all types of accommodation options to McGill students with a valid student ID number.

The average costs per month for apartments in Montreal are $500-700 for a studio apartment, $550-750 for a one-bedroom, $650-950 for a two-bedroom, $800 and up for a three or more bedroom apartment, and $350-550 for a "share" or "room."  The best time to look for an  apartment for September is during the last two weeks of June and the first two weeks of July, although many apartments close to McGill's main campus, are available for summer sublet with option to renew beginning in late April of each year.

Our lists indicate the name and telephone number of the person to contact, the address and number of rooms contained in the unit, its location, as well as the date the accommodation is available. The "Rooms" and "Shares" lists do not include the complete civic address as a means of preserving the privacy of these individuals. If you are interested in any of the apartments on these lists, call the contact person before visiting the dwelling.

The lists are divided by zones, which correspond to the geographical zones indicated on the map.

In the Province of Quebec, the total number of rooms contained in an apartment is used to indicate its size, rather than just the number of bedrooms. Each apartment has its own bathroom, which is considered as a "half" room.

1-1/2  - Bachelor or studio apartment. Contains one large room with a kitchenette and a bathroom.
2-1/2 - Usually  a small one-bedroom apartment. Contains a closed bedroomand a living-room with a kitchenette, and a bathroom OR (less often) a living/bedroom with full, closed kitchen and bathroom.
3-1/2 - One-bedroom apartment: contains a closed bedroom, living-room and full kitchen.
4-1/2 - Two-bedroom apartment.
5-1/2 - Three-bedrooms OR 2 bedrooms plus a living room, dining room and kitchen.
6-1/2 & up - Three or four bedrooms and up (be sure to ask the owner how many closed bedrooms there are).

This is a room in someone's home or apartment and is often furnished. Meals are occasionally included, but more often kitchen privileges are offered. Usually the people placing these ads are not students.

These are listing of people who have rented an apartment and are looking for at least one roommate. The apartment is usually furnished except for the available room. These ads are usually placed by students.
